We've been getting more and more calls about the 8HP transmission and what type of crossmember to be used with that swap. So, depending on what vehicle you're putting the transmission into, we probably have a combination that's going to work. So, the 8HP70 transmission has a very similar bellhousing to trans mount location as like a Turbo 400 when paired with our 8HP to GM trans mount adapter.
So this adapter [car truck] is needed. [It] bolts to the back of the 8HP, and it converts it over to a standard GM style mount, and it is slotted. So depending on where that mount goes, it allows for a little bit of misalignment front to back. So it is hard to make a combination that fits with every single swap, because there's different motor mounts that position the engine and transmission differently depending on which route you go.
But with our products, we try to make them so that they work with a variety of different combinations. So that's why we slot our trans mount adapter. And then we also slot our crossmembers to help with that misalignment.
Now, what I like to recommend for the 8HP swap is a Turbo 400 Crossmember depending on which vehicle you're putting it into say it's a 1st Gen F body or a Chevelle.
But we've found that the Turbo 400 Crossmember works most of the time when paired with our adjustable trans mount. So this is adjustable trans mount. It bolts to the crossmember and allows for some forward and rearward adjustment. So in combination with our 8HP to GM trans mount adapter it kind of takes the guesswork out of the crossmember swap when you're doing the 8HP70 transmission swap.
