Description

  • Fits Models: Regal, LeMans, Chevelle, Cutlass, El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo, Century, Grand Prix, Grand Am, GTO, Vista Cruiser, Laguna, Sprint.
  • Fits Years: 73-77
  • This crossmember will not fit a 73-75 EL Camino with the boxed frame rails.
  • This crossmember will not fit Laguna with boxed frame rails.
  • Fits Transmissions: 700R4, 4L60, Pre-1996 4L60E, TKO-500, TKO-600, TKX.
  • This crossmember will fit 1996 and later 4L60E, and 4L65E transmissions for LS engine swaps.
  • We recommend a polyurethane transmission mount. The GMTM is sold separately.
  • For the 1973-1977 hardtop frames the distance between the crossmember frame mounting holes is 51-1/8". To ensure proper crossmember selection be sure to measure your frame before you order.

The crossmember is installed with the G Force label facing the rear of the vehicle and so that the exhaust clearance humps are closed on the top and open on the bottom.

To use the provided 7/16″ hardware it is necessary to enlarge holes in your frame rails with a 1/2″ drill. If you choose to use the stock size 3/8″ hardware, it is strongly recommended to use new Grade #8 fasteners to compensate.

77 Malibu Fitment

While a tight fit, with a mallet and just the right angle, it will fit perfectly beneath the trans. My new 700r4 needed to be jacked up a couple inches to permit the trans mount to squeeze in. Once in place, it lined up perfectly with another set of factory drilled holes behind the original attachment points. Did GM plan for that frame to accept this trans series way back in ‘77? We did this install on the floor with the car on jack stands. This cross member is made of 1/2” plate and 3/8” tube — very strong, stiff, a bit heavy and heavy duty.

Fits my '77 Malibu perfectly

I was able to add the crossmember to a 4l60e swap in my '77 malibu without any hiccups. Highly recommended and perfect for dual exhaust
